We call it the EZ Rim because it makes shooting easier for players. Easier shooting means more enjoyable and frequent practice sessions, leading to accelerated improvement. 

Our rims are the same material and color as a regulation rim, but with a 10% larger diameter and 6.5 inch greater height. The increased height forces players to shoot with the ideal trajectory of a lay up or jumpshot and the increased width creates a bigger target for players to aim at.  

The funnel shape that is created when the EZ Rim is attached to a regulation rim creates carnival like misses when the shot is off target which feels psychologically less defeating to players. This allows them to preserve their confidence and unemotionally move on to the next shot more easily. A key factor to achieve deliberate practice.

What separates EZ Rim from all other shooting aids is its high degree of motor skill transfer due to how closely EZ Rim shooting mirrors shooting on a regulation hoop. The more similar the perceptual, cognitive and motor demands of a given task are, the greater the potential for positive transfer and adaptation. The EZ Rim is nearly identical to a regulation rim from a perception standpoint (Visually with its color, shape and way the basketball reacts to it. Auditorily with the actual sound the rim makes when in contact with a basketball.)
